The first week was hell! If I remember correctly I had the shakes, was extremely moody (poor Michael) and felt like I had just come off of a massive high ... well I guess I was only it was a chocolate high!
The week before I had managed to remove ... and by remove I mean eat ... all chocolate that was in the house. It was rather gross to be honest - Donna and I managed to polish off the left overs of Emma's yummy Baby Shower cake and not blink! So by the time Monday came I was looking forward to having a good old chocolate detox!
They say that it takes 30 days to form a habit and I really think they are right! It took me 30 days to stop thinking about not buying anything that might have chocolate in it, even small things like Hot Chocolate Drinks or Cookies and Cream Ice Cream. There are so many delicious things that contain chocolate that we don't even realise it!
But once I hit the 30 day mark I found that my need for chocolate was taken over by my need to succeed and how proud I felt of myself for going this long without chocolate. I stopped thinking about even wanting chocolate, there where still times that I would find myself on my free day wanting to go to the movies and get popcorn and a choc top, but I found that I was just as happy going without.
And now I'm at 73 Days chocolate FREE and very proud of myself! Plus with a change in diet and exercise I have more energy, am sleeping better, feel fitter and stronger than ever, to me that's enough to keep me going for the rest of my 79 Days Without Chocolate.
People who say that they can't do this haven't tried, I was a block a day eater and I managed to give it up cold turkey. So I put the challenge out there to everyone ... Go 30 Days Without Chocolate!
